Knights Push, Noble Tazers Push Back

On any given Saturday night, a high spirited basketball game would appear to be the perfect ending to an otherwise hectic day. The same can be said about a meeting between two teams who have rarely played against each other, at least in this division, but yet, they came prepared to play.

From the opening tip-off up until the buzzer sounded at the end of regulation, no one knew which way this game would go. The Knight's key player had early foul trouble, thanks in large part to excellent defense by Tazers Curtis Denning and Nick Schindler. Having to sit most of the game, the Knight's "star" was out of the picture (and game) and they had to transition to their big guys down deep. And they did. The Tazers strong men, Kevin Graf, Jaren Jones, Josh Hogan and Dayon Goodman took their turns defending the basket. They stopped, swatted, blocked and all things said, combined for 15 team rebounds.

Hogan contributed 16 points while Graf had 12. Brayden Monsen contribited 8 with some drives right up the center lane oblivious to the Knight's middlemen. Alex Proctor, fresh out of the oral surgeon's chair and four teeth extractions, contributed a cruical three point shot before half time. Mitch Johnson played great defense at the front line and added two assists. Although they had 51% shooting, the Tazers could not close out the Knights. Defense would be a key factor. The Tazers played strong defense and held the Knights back only to loose the game 50 to 47 in the final 30 seconds of the game.
