The anticipation of a game against team Flash was notable even before the opening tip-off. After all previous games between the Tazers and Flash had been decided by 8 points or less, tonight would be no different. Flash played an extended 2-1-2 offense for most of the first half. But the Tazers had a few tricks up their jersies to handle this motion offense. Its called, 'tough defense.' Coming off of a disappointing loss to Avalanche the night before, the Tazers had a chance to redeem themseleves. And redeem they did. This game would not go down in the record books as a high scoring game, but the defensive stance of the Tazers was monumental. Key blocked shots and pressure on the defensive line plus a height advantage enabled the Tazers to maintain the lead during most of the game. Flash hit crucial shots in the second quarter to pull ahead by no more than 3 points. At half, the score was a mere 12 to 9.
Thanks in large part to the front line of Alex Proctor, Brayden Monsen, Nick Schindler and Mitch Johnson, the Tazers out-hustled Flash. Josh Hogan, Dayon Goodman, and Jaren Jones effectively controlled the boards. Flash pulled down an equal number of rebounds, but not enough to cash them in. In addition, Flash was forced to put up several outside shots that did not drop. The two rivals are likely to meet again this season. Final score: 26 - 18, Tazers.
